Overview of Minutes from Last NMPRA Meeting (12.15.2009)
Thanks to everyone who helped
make the NMPRA National Conference such a huge success! Thanks
for the support and participation by all!
Program Representatives:
NMPRA is very interested in getting a program representative from each
Residency program. The representative would act as a liaison between
NMPRA and the residency program and ensure that residents have access
to information about upcoming events and the NMPRA newsletter.
This position would also create better communication between programs
and NMPRA regarding projects, concerns, and much more.
NMPRA is still advocating to have Med-Peds listed as a Primary Care Specialty. Please send a letter to your state representatives! The link to the letter is below.
The NMPRA Newsletter is
out!
NMPRA is always interested
in what you have to say. Consider writing an article for the upcoming
newsletter!
The updated Fellowship guide
for Med Peds is now available on the website. (Thanks to Dr. Kaelber
for putting this together!)
There are still Med-Peds
t-shirts available for sale. Information about getting a shirt
will be on the website soon.
Plans are underway for the
upcoming Northeast Regional NMPRA Conference in Buffalo, NY on Saturday,
April 17th 2010. Stay tuned for information about registration.
Dr. Friedland will be speaking and topics will include EMR and Social
Networking.
News from the Program Reps
The Med-Peds residents in Tulane had their annual Homeless Youth Party -- here are some pictures:
Don't let Med-Peds get left out of Health Care Reform!
Act NOW to make sure that we are listed as a Primary Care Specialty
As of now, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics is not officially listed as a primary care specialty, making it ineligible for any primary care benefits that will be passed in the new healthcare bill (such as billing reimbursements, federal loan forgiveness programs, training grants applications, etc).
"A blog dedicated to promote teaching in the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics academic services. Based on real patients, real clinical questions and everyday clinical life as an Internist and Pediatrician."

Musings of a Distractible Mind "Reading this blog you may get the impression that I can’t make up my mind if I am serious or silly. Yet I think we all need a portion of both in our lives. I do my best to keep the balance and hope you enjoy the experience."
Stories in Medicine I am a physician practicing Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This blog chronicles my life first as a medical student, then as a resident. It is about stories of medicine. If you think 'Scrubs' or 'Grey's Anatomy' tells the stories of a resident's life, then here is what it is really like (for one resident, anyway).
