Mayo Clinic

Rochester, Minnesota

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is recruiting an academic general pediatric diagnostician and hospitalist to advance its mission in patient care, education and research. This position might be ideal for a physician trained in both pediatrics and internal medicine as the position combines the best of both fields, inpatient and outpatient practice.

The Division of General Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine was chartered in 2003 to focus on national and international consultative and referral care in ambulatory and inpatient settings within pediatric and adolescent medicine.  The Division has been highly successful in its endeavors in hospitalism and diagnostic consultative care.  The qualified candidate would join seven faculty members with diverse areas of interest and expertise in patient care, medical education and clinical research.

The General Pediatric and Adolescent  Hospital Service is a teaching service led by division staff which encompasses hospital-based care for local, regional, national and international patients.  Faculty provide teaching for medical students and residents.  Opportunities exist for faculty with interests in continuous quality improvement, clinical pathway development, and safety initiatives. The patient base is primarily a referral base from across the region and nation. Most pediatric specialties at Mayo Clinic admit to this service and then consult to it rather than staff their own services.

The Pediatric Diagnostic and Referral Service is an ambulatory referral practice providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and consultative medical management for children and adolescents from around the world with complex or perplexing systemic or multi-system concerns.  The service embodies the full range of pediatric and adolescent medicine, and two-thirds of the patients seen are indeed adolescents.  Prospective interdisciplinary clinical research projects in orthostatic intolerance and adolescent autonomic dysfunction are ongoing.

Mayo Clinic is a large multispecialty practice located in Rochester, Minnesota. The Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine is comprised of 108 physicians representing all pediatric subspecialties. The children’s hospital at Mayo Clinic is a 90-bed pediatric facility that includes 46 critical care beds[RMJ1] .  The Mayo Clinic T.
