We are now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 NMPRA Executive Board for the following positions:

NMPRA is an outstanding organization for residents run by residents. By becoming an Executive Board officer, you will have the opportunity to work with other key Med-Peds organizations including the AAP Section on Med-Peds (SOMP) and the Med-Peds Program Directors’ Association (MPPDA). This is your chance to make a difference for your Med-Peds colleagues on a national level!
How do you apply?
Directors must be current Med-Peds residents (rising PGY 2-4) in good standing. Each Director will be expected to be available once monthly for a group conference call (of approximately 1 hour in duration) as well as attend the National Conference from October 3-4, 2026 in San Diego, CA. Their program must be current members of NMPRA. Please complete the form linked below to apply.

- Short (300 words) description of your qualifications and desire to be considered for the position, which will be shared with all NMPRA members via the email listserv during the voting process

- A letter of good standing from your Program Director (PD)
Submission deadline: June 1st by 11:59 PM PDT
Eligibility will be reviewed after submission. Applications will then be compiled and shared with current NMPRA board members for an internal appointment process. Transitioning for all board positions will begin shortly after elections with elected individuals to formally start in June 2026.
Available Executive and Director Roles and Responsibilities
Treasurer
- Works with the logistic coordinator to maintain records of all transactions and money flow
- Prepares financial reports at least annually and prepares an annual budget
- Works with the president to develop a detailed budget for particular costs of the annual meeting
- Prepares updated reports regarding cost of the annual meeting monthly from June until the conference and then prepares an updated report 1 month after the annual meeting with final costs
- Works with the development coordinator in optimizing revenue and ways to streamline overall costs
- Files appropriate tax-related forms to maintain NMPRA as a tax-exempt corporation
- Attends the annual meeting
- Time commitment: 3-5 hours/week, with increased time around the national conference and in the spring due to tax and budget duties.

Traditional Secretary:
- Takes the minutes of the meetings of the Board and members, and keeps the minutes as part of the corporate records.
- Manages organization’s listserv and program membership status.
- Maintains the shared Med-Peds calendar for all Med-Peds related organizations.
- Prepares the programs for the annual National Conference.
- Organizes the attendees of the National Conference and keeps attendance.
- Prepares an evaluation for the annual National Conference.
- Prepares the programs for the regional conferences as desired by the organizing institutions.
- Attends the annual meeting
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee
Please note that at this time, this application is for a Director-Elect position in 2026-2027 with formal duties as Director beginning 2027-2028
- Oversee all actions of the DEI subcommittee.
- Ensure up-to-date DEI information on the NMPRA website.
- Help liaisons plan and execute DEI events.
- Coordinate Mentor-Mentee relationships with MPPDA.
- Maintain a directory/database of URM Med-Peds physicians.
- Help organize the NMPRA DEI Summer Webinar.
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week during the summer webinar series and the month preceding the national conference

Director of Medical Students & Recruitment
Please note that for this position, we require in the PD Letter of Recommendation requirement that the PD is willing to allow for schedule changes to accommodate recruitment webinar series host responsibilities
- Assist in forming new medical student interest groups at medical schools without Med-Peds programs.
- Update information for medical students on the website, the Med-Peds interest group presentation, and Med-Peds brochure.
- Assist in connecting students by region and providing service and networking opportunities for them
- Assist in the organization and execution of the summer Med-Peds Webinar Series
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.

Director of Web Operations
- Update the website with news, conferences, etc.
- Ensure website is up to date and manage back end operations so that functionality is smooth.
- Upload email addresses to the master database for campaigns.
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.

Director of Health Policy & Advocacy
- Create advocacy opportunities for residents on a national and regional level by helping coordinate advocacy education and distributing information about becoming involved in legislation.
- Serve as the NMPRA representative on issues that affect Med-Peds physicians and creates policies/statements when resident input is needed (e.g. opinion statement regarding the Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine Fellowship, overview on MOCs, ensuring that Med-Peds is included as a primary care specialty).
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.

Director of Community Service and Outreach
- Assist in connecting residents with opportunities projects for service locally, nationally, and internationally (e.g. health fairs, volunteer clinics, Physician Health & Wellness at AAP).
- Organize and work the Physician Health and Wellness booth at the annual AAP meeting.
- Organize the annual NMPRA Community Service Week.
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.

Director of Professional Advancement
- Work with NMPRA and faculty mentors to create new resources for residents (e.g. jobs guide, CV/cover letter advice, fellowship guide etc.).
- Create a yearly calendar of deadlines for academic projects and ideally form partnerships with ACP, AAP, SGIM, and PAS with NMPRA representation at these meetings.
- Assist in seeking out physicians interested in mentoring residents and connecting professional groups
- Help coordinate and execute webinars related to professional advancement opportunities.
- Time commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with increase to 6-8 hours/week in the month preceding the national conference.
