Pediatrician Health Day brought another year of excitement and success at the AAP National Convention and Exhibition. As part of the organizing team for the event, it was amazing to see the project get started in its early stages and come to fruition over the past 6 months.
Numerous Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Attendings, residents, and medical students took part in sharing the most up to date preventive health care guidelines with the Pediatricians attending the conference and eagerly participated in a venture of education, networking, socialization, and fun.
Topics ranged from daily aspirin use to screening recommendations for diabetes and hyperlipidemia to the most recent recommendations on prostate, colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screening. The enjoyment and engagement was certainly mutual, as many of the Pediatricians left us with wonderful remarks.“I never think about my own health, thank you so much”
“Wow, you do this for us”, “I never think about my own health, thank you so much”, “Are we at the right conference, this is a great idea”, “Thank you so much – I’m taking this for myself, and calling my mom right now too!” The spirit of the event left us all with a sense of gratitude, and a reminder that our calling as “Doctors for Kids” and “Doctors for Adults” is quintessential in this turning point of the national health care system. We thank all those who participated in Pediatrician Health Day this year, and look forward to sharing the fun in the sun next year –Orlando, here we come!
